Operates MRI equipment and performs MRI procedures in a hospital setting by performing the following duties. This role involves preparing and positioning patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, including high acuity ICU, ED, Stroke, and Trauma patients. The technologist will assist the radiologist in examinations and procedures, prepare patients with pacemakers for MRI exams by assisting with placing the patient in SafeScan mode, and assist the Anesthesiologist when performing MRI exams on sedated patients by setting up anesthesia machines and monitors. The role also requires maintaining knowledge of MRI Compatible IV pumps for medication transfers, measuring and administering contrast media, processing images, and preparing them for review by the radiologist or requesting physician. Additionally, the technologist will perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, complete forms, and maintain records, logs, and reports. Office work such as answering phones, filing, obtaining information from computers, and ordering supplies is also part of the duties. Explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation, and adjusting immobilization devices to obtain optimum views are also key responsibilities.
