The MRI Technologist must have enhanced knowledge in the area of MRI, including the specific expertise and skills necessary for maintaining a safe MRI environment daily. They must understand basic anatomy, physiology, and physics as they pertain to MRI patient care. This role involves providing imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, and ensuring thorough explanations and adequate communication with patients and their families. The technologist will uphold all safety standards, follow established protocols, and prioritize customer and patient satisfaction using AIDET principles. Collaboration with other departments and personnel is essential for providing high-quality patient care. The role also requires adherence to I Care principles for proper patient identification and exam accuracy, as well as good stewardship of supplies and resources to support the financial viability of the DCH Health System. Specific responsibilities include practicing MRI zone safety, understanding MR language and scheduling, administering contrast/medications, correlating clinical history with exams, participating in MRI QC, maintaining accreditation, managing inventory, and instructing students and new employees. On-call duties may be required. Charge or lead techs will coordinate services and act as a liaison. Per Diem staff have specific holiday and work frequency requirements, as well as notice periods for resignation and potential review of their position if work requests are declined.
