About The Position

This position is PRN, days, at Ball Memorial Hospital. The MRI Technologist possesses knowledge of MRI safety and safety zones, reviews patient history and screens for safety concerns (ferromagnetic objects, implanted devices, etc.). They educate patients on what to expect and ensure they are safe and comfortable during their scan. The role involves obtaining IV access, preparing and administering contrast, and recognizing and responding to adverse contrast events. The technologist must possess advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and ensure the MRI environment remains safe by screening all visitors and team members entering the MRI environment. They display knowledge of scanning protocols and adjust them to ensure diagnostic images. The role includes performing routine QC and ensuring equipment is functioning properly, collaborating with radiologists and referring physicians, and documenting necessary information in EMR. Assistance with minimally invasive procedures may be required as needed.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.

Nice To Haves

  • MRI experience is preferred.
  • Requires advanced certification through one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance, RT(MR) ; or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT): Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (RMRIT) , within 12 months of hire.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
  • May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
