About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine and specialized examinations in MRI, adapting procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results, and preparing patients for examinations under the direction of a radiologist.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified MRI Technologist within 1 year - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Registered in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology
  • Associate's Degree: Related Field

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging.
  • Exhibits competency in performing MRI procedures.
  • Evaluates the finished images to ensure appropriate identification and image quality are being submitted to the radiologists.
  • Ensures patient comfort and safety (i.e. use of earplugs) to maintain quality care during the procedure.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.
  • Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function on both high field and low field magnet.
  • Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software.
  • Performs reasonable trouble shooting.
  • Checks equipment for general safety and reports problems through appropriate channels.
  • Knows terminology or jargon of all magnet strengths.
  • Performs support functions of the MRI/Medical Imaging Department.
  • Promptly prepares images/paperwork to ensure timely turnaround of the exams.
  • Transport patients to and from the department as required.
  • Promptly and accurately enter patient information into the HIS system.
  • Coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Ensures safe environment by monitoring people who come within zone 3 & 4.
  • Demonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.
  • Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for training fellow technologists and students.
  • Assists Lead Technologist in teaching MRI procedures to coworkers/students.
