Requirements

Completion of MRI Certification Exam required
Contrast injection course, required
Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO) required

Nice To Haves

Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) asset
Experience with Siemens MRI considered an asset

Responsibilities

Performing MRI exams as outlined in the MRI procedure manual.
Operating, troubleshooting, and ensuring that medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing effectively and efficiently.
Completing all clerical aspects of exam completion.
Training of students and new technologists.
Continuing education as required by associations and needs of the department.
All patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care.
Observing and understanding hospital visions and values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, customer-focus and innovation while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Performing cross-functional responsibilities as assigned or requested.
Performing other duties related to the job classification, as required.
Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures as outlined in MRI procedure Manual.
Utilizes technical/medical judgement/knowledge to evaluate image quality, and adjusts accordingly.
Ensures proper screening procedure for patient and anyone else entering magnet room.
Assesses the patient’s condition prior to, during, and after procedures; maintains awareness of procedural complications and reactions during and after procedures; recognizes the conditions requiring immediate attention and initiates appropriate response; documents procedures to ensure precise and accurate procedural records are maintained.
Performs other duties as required.
