Requirements

  • Completion of MRI Certification Exam required
  • Contrast injection course, required
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO) required

Nice To Haves

  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) asset
  • Experience with Siemens MRI considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Performing MRI exams as outlined in the MRI procedure manual.
  • Operating, troubleshooting, and ensuring that medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing effectively and efficiently.
  • Completing all clerical aspects of exam completion.
  • Training of students and new technologists.
  • Continuing education as required by associations and needs of the department.
  • All patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care.
  • Observing and understanding hospital visions and values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, customer-focus and innovation while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performing cross-functional responsibilities as assigned or requested.
  • Performing other duties related to the job classification, as required.
  • Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures as outlined in MRI procedure Manual.
  • Utilizes technical/medical judgement/knowledge to evaluate image quality, and adjusts accordingly.
  • Ensures proper screening procedure for patient and anyone else entering magnet room.
  • Assesses the patient’s condition prior to, during, and after procedures; maintains awareness of procedural complications and reactions during and after procedures; recognizes the conditions requiring immediate attention and initiates appropriate response; documents procedures to ensure precise and accurate procedural records are maintained.
  • Performs other duties as required.
