About The Position

AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified MRI Technologist to support Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The MRI Technologist will provide diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging services in a fast-paced military hospital environment supporting inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialty care services. This position requires rotating shifts, weekend, holiday, and emergency essential coverage in a 24/7 imaging department.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI Technology program.
  • Current ARRT (MR) certification required
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent MRI clinical experience preferred in a hospital setting
  • Experience performing MRI procedures independently in a high-volume environment preferred
  • Current, active, unrestricted radiology/MRI license or registration in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Strong MRI imaging and patient care skills
  • Knowledge of MRI safety standards and screening procedures
  • Ability to work independently in a high-volume hospital setting
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience with PACS and EMR systems
  • Ability to work rotating schedules and emergency essential assignments
  • Must meet ATAMMC occupational health, immunization, tuberculosis screening, respirator fit testing, HIPAA, DHA training, and background screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services within the scope of clinical privileges granted by ATAMMC.
  • Perform duties in accordance with DHA policies, Joint Commission standards, infection control requirements, and departmental procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic MRI examinations utilizing MRI imaging equipment.
  • Operate MRI systems independently while producing high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Review patient histories, physician orders, contraindications, and prior imaging studies to ensure appropriate MRI procedures.
  • Prepare and position patients safely for MRI procedures while monitoring patient comfort and safety throughout examinations.
  • Screen patients for MRI safety requirements including implants, metal devices, and contrast contraindications.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff regarding imaging procedures and urgent findings.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, imaging documentation, operational logs, and workflow tracking systems.
  • Operate, clean, calibrate, and troubleshoot MRI equipment according to manufacturer and departmental standards.
  • Utilize PACS, MHS Genesis, and electronic medical record systems for imaging workflow and patient documentation.
  • Participate in quality assurance, competency assessments, mandatory training, and emergency essential staffing operations.
  • Support rotating schedules including day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts to maintain 24/7 MRI coverage.
