About The Position

University Cancer & Blood Center (UCBC) is seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist to join their growing and dynamic team. UCBC prides itself on providing hope, guidance, and comfort, striving to make a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families. This position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, or on-call duties, and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. UCBC has been Northeast Georgia’s leading cancer and hematology treatment center for over 40 years, offering advanced cancer care in an atmosphere of compassion.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • 3 years as an MRI Technologist or graduate of a certificate program in MRI Technology.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Experience in drafting imaging protocols.
  • Experience with the ACR accreditation process.

Responsibilities

  • Positioning and immobilizing patients for optimal quality magnetic resonance scans.
  • Selecting appropriate technical factors and performing computer reformatting of acquired data.
  • Performing post-processing of computer data to enhance data and image information.
  • Operating support equipment for MRI, including independent workstations, disc drives, pressure injectors, patient monitoring systems, and PACS.
  • Transferring patients to and from the MRI scanning table and preparing them for the examination by explaining the procedure and answering questions.
  • Initiating IVs for contrast media administration in accordance with departmental policy and utilizing universal precautions.
  • Securing pertinent patient history from the patient, chart, or family member to provide adequate information for radiologist interpretation.
  • Assisting in obtaining confidential patient history, including documentation of lab values and allergy screening.
  • Maintaining magnetic safety standards to ensure patient and staff well-being.
  • Documenting patient statistics, supplies, billing information, and preserving patient records.
  • Documenting confidential patient history to ensure appropriateness for examination.
  • Documenting patient charge data, modifying and initiating charges as procedure modifications are made.
  • Documenting any allergic reaction or incident report.
  • Providing timely information for inventory of supplies.
  • Assisting in scheduling of examinations.
