The MRI Technologist is responsible for delivering quality imaging services to geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients. This role is crucial for the imaging department's success, providing vital information to physicians for optimal patient care. The Technologist integrates clinical applications with anatomy and physiology knowledge to ensure successful clinical operations and patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology (or equivalent) program.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in performing MRI procedures.
  • Use and safety of radiology equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • A new graduate may be considered.
  • Varied experience with several brands of MRI equipment is preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patients and prioritizes exams based on clinical need.
  • Reviews and verifies orders before beginning exams.
  • Reviews the patient EMR for safety concerns that could alter the quality of the exam or affect patient care.
  • Prepares patient and room for exams, explains the procedure, transfers patient using proper lifting and transfer techniques, positions patient, and assists patient as needed during the exam.
  • Performs clinical evaluation of all patients and performs exams specifically as stated in the physician order.
  • Observes patient and equipment during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences in relation to patient condition to the Imaging Supervisor.
  • Delivers all images to PACS and the Radiologist and ensures receipt of exam dictation.
  • Rotates through other imaging departments and aids other staff to achieve all patient care standards, as needed and determined by the Imaging Supervisor.
  • Completes all daily tasks for optimal departmental operation.
  • Provides a line of communication regarding department affairs amongst department staff, other clinical staff, and physicians.
  • Reports departmental concerns to the Imaging Supervisor.
  • Attends department staff meetings.
  • Manages inventory of supplies.
  • Maintains all center-wide requirements such as annual Employee Health requirements, ARW's and competencies.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility.
  • Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.
  • Provides support to Managers and Lead Techs to ensure exams are completed in compliance with ACR criteria.
