The MR Technologist demonstrates an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, contrast agents, MR safety and medical terminology. They maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and technique, and perform MRI procedures according to established protocols to obtain diagnostic information as ordered by the physician. The technologist prepares and administers contrast at the direction of the radiologist in accordance with state and federal guidelines. They ensure the delivery of quality care in a safe environment for infant through adult patients. The role requires sensitivity to the physical, cultural and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner. The technologist engages in continuing education to enhance patient care, public education, knowledge and technical competence while embracing lifelong learning. They use independent, professional and ethical judgment, along with critical thinking in the performance of duties.
