About The Position

ChristianaCare's Imaging Department is currently recruiting for a Full-Time MRI Technologist II to support our Cecil Campus Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland. This role involves providing direction and guidance to acute technical staff, assisting with clinical training, and supporting new procedures. The MRI Technologist II is a content level expert of MRI equipment and radiology-supported computer systems.

Requirements

  • 3 years of MRI experience required.
  • Completion of ARRT registry in radiologic technology required (two-year accredited program).
  • Completion of ARRT registry in MRI required.
  • Associate’s degree is required.
  • State licensure required.
  • Certification in CPR.
  • MD State Licensure required.

Responsibilities

  • Content level expert of MRI equipment, knowledge, and proficiency to troubleshoot and control workflow related to demand and handle patient care priorities.
  • Arranges and manages the patient workflow for the department.
  • Assists in the learning process of new staff for department procedures, quality control, and MRI safety.
  • Performs MRI safety screenings for patients and research implanted devices prior to scanning.
  • Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in ACR and state licenses.
  • Complies with Joint Commission regulations.
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal (if applicable), pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to scan patients with ventilator support, general anesthesia support, pacemakers, and other specialty needs.
  • Assist with the coordination of workflow and patient care activities, which may require transport.
  • Administers all contrast media under physician’s supervision.
  • Demonstrates ability to obtain IV access.
  • Ability to assess patient for adverse reactions and/or changes in patient status.
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of contrast media injectors.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform i-STAT testing (when applicable) and accurate calculation of GFR following established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Completes transmission of optimum quality images to PACS system, performs QC on scans.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Consistently uses two patient identifiers.
  • Obtain clinical history regarding reason for examination and obtains appropriate consent.
