About The Position

The MRI Tech is responsible for administering Magnetic Resonance procedures according to department policies and physician/provider needs. This role functions as a Multi-Skilled Technologist, providing compassionate patient care by addressing physiological and psychological needs. The technologist will prioritize and complete daily assignments efficiently, coordinate exam protocols with radiologists, and maintain thorough, legible, and accurate documentation, including clinical histories and HIPAA compliance. The position also involves active participation in charge capture/cost containment, quality control of exams, maintaining a clean and stocked work area, operating equipment correctly, and reporting any necessary repairs. The MRI Tech will participate in orientation, education, and self-development, including student training, and is encouraged to suggest improvements for departmental operations and services. They will work collaboratively, support team efforts, and provide quality service to all customers. Flexibility and responsibility in accepting work assignments and responding to change are expected. The role requires practicing radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles, adhering to MR protocols, and limiting SAR levels and magnetic field safety procedures. Proficiency in the Hospital and Radiology Information system is necessary. The MRI Tech will perform other duties as required and continuously support the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health, conducting all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Requirements

  • Two years post high school education training in an AMA approved School of radiology
  • Current registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current Indiana Radiologic Technologist license required.
  • BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required.
  • MRI certified with the ARRT required or MRI registry eligible (with ARRT MRI certification within one (1) year of employment) required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability and appropriate technical skills when administering procedures as associated with department policies and procedures and/or as needed by physician/provider (Modality Specific-Magnetic Resonance).
  • Functions as a Multi-Skilled Technologist.
  • Compassionately gives patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the patient, acknowledging physiological and psychological needs through policy and procedures governing department.
  • Prioritize and performs duties to complete daily assignments in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Coordinates protocols for exams with radiologists.
  • Completes documentation thoroughly, legibly, and accurately according to department guidelines and in a timely manner.
  • Obtains clinical histories that are appropriate for exams.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Actively participates in charge capture/cost containment activities according to specialty area expectations.
  • Performs quality control of exams.
  • Ensures that designated work area is clean and stocked with supplies on an ongoing basis.
  • Operates equipment correctly and keeps chief technologist informed of any needed repairs.
  • Participates in orientation, education and self-development including student training.
  • Searches for better ways of doing things by recommending and /or initiating suggestions for improvement of departmental operations and/or services provided.
  • Works well with others and supports team efforts.
  • Provides quality service to all customers (Internal and External).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsibility in accepting work assignments.
  • Responds positively to changing circumstances.
