Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerized tomography (CT) procedures on humans, animals and specimens for research studies. The role involves adhering to study-established scanning protocols, dispensing and administering contrast material, and maintaining records according to state and federal guidelines. The technologist is responsible for ensuring equipment functions properly through quality control checks and reporting malfunctions. They will prepare supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures, maintain knowledge of age- and species-specific techniques, and explain procedures to patients to alleviate concerns. The position requires proper patient or animal positioning and maintaining competence through ongoing knowledge updates. Other related duties incidental to the work described may also be performed.
