About The Position

This role is responsible for performing inspections on incoming raw materials, as well as in-process and finished products during processing and packaging. The inspector will ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), document findings, and communicate any quality issues to supervisors and operations personnel. The position also involves assisting with investigations and maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Zero to two years related inspection experience.
Familiarity with general inspection procedures.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as product specifications, departmental instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine e-mails to communicate within QC and with operations personnel.
Good writing and good communication skills.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and averages.
Ability to compare results to specifications to determine if result meets requirements.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
Ability to work in quick-paced environment and change tasks frequently.
Ability to learn quickly, operate independently, and to assume responsibility for new tasks.

Nice To Haves

Experience in quality department preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs raw material evaluation on all incoming shipments and obtains representative lot samples.
Completes necessary documentation and Oracle entries.
Samples incoming raw material and incoming packaged products upon receipt in warehouse.
Reviews COC/COA of incoming material and/or incoming packaging component, as needed.
Reviews documentation for completeness and compliance with GMPs and SOPs.
Performs random in-process testing to verify operator’s results.
Releases materials for use and reviews documentation for completeness.
Communicates problems/out-of-specification issues to supervisor/lead and operations personnel.
Assists supervisor/lead in conducting investigations.
Performs AQL inspections on bulk or packaged product, as needed.
Places product on hold status to investigate quality issues.
Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all safety rules and procedures.
Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in training activities to learn what constitutes a safety hazard; reporting safety concerns to the supervisor, submitting safety suggestions, and correcting or reporting to the appropriate people when an employee sees a workplace health or safety hazard, until it is resolved.
Assists with communicating safety information to new employees.
Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
