MPP Data Analytics Intern
About The Position
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank) is hiring an MPP Data Analytics Intern for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a 10-week paid internship from June to August, focused on the Mortgage Purchase Program (MPP), which provides members with a secondary market outlet for mortgage loans they originate. The internship offers hands-on technical experience, opportunities to develop professional skills, networking, and exposure to the finance and banking industry. The intern will design and build interactive Power BI reports and dashboards, clean and analyze datasets, collaborate with team members and business units, validate and troubleshoot reports, document processes, and contribute to dashboard design and data governance practices. The program also includes cohort activities, a group project, a community service event, and professional development sessions. Interns must be located in Indianapolis during the program and work a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remotely each week.
Requirements
- Be actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
- Have completed at least the sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
- Major in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Have basic experience or coursework with Power BI or other data visualization tools, including DAX and Power Query.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Work well independently and in team settings.
- Be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to solve problems.
- Be located in Indianapolis for the duration of the program and commit to a hybrid schedule of three days in office and two days remote each week.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with SQL, Microsoft Azure, and Fabric.
Responsibilities
- Design and build interactive Power BI reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from sources such as SQL, Oracle, and Dynamics 365.
- Collaborate with team members and business units to gather requirements and deliver visualizations.
- Perform data validation and troubleshoot existing reports.
- Document processes and contribute to dashboard design and data governance best practices.
- Develop technical skills in SQL and Power BI.
- Collaborate across teams and present analytical results effectively.
- Contribute to projects aligned with the intern’s field of study.
- Participate in team-building activities, a group project, a community service event, and professional development sessions.
