About The Position

Works under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor and performs general labor and manual work maintaining city facilities and properties. Uses riding mowers, hand and power tools, herbicide spray equipment, and other equipment. Operates and performs preventative maintenance on tractors, 2-ton dump trucks, commercial zero-turn mowers, bush hog mowers, side boom mowers, rough mowers, and other riding mowers. Performs groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, watering, spraying, fertilizing, aerating, digging, and raking. Picks up trash and tree limbs on city properties and notifies the supervisor of needed repairs and maintenance to properties, buildings, and equipment. May perform additional functions as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Experience operating various riding mowers, including commercial zero-turn mowers and tractors.
• Ability to perform manual work involving bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching overhead, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to traverse uneven ground and maneuver around debris.
• Ability to operate and perform preventative maintenance on hand and motorized tools and equipment.
• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing to receive instructions and give feedback.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating a 2-ton dump truck and/or equipment such as bush hog mowers, side boom mowers, and herbicide equipment.
• Possession of a Driver License or Commercial Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, plant, water, spray, fertilize, aerate, dig, and rake as needed.
• Pick up trash and tree limbs on city properties.
• Notify the supervisor of repairs and maintenance needed for properties, buildings, and equipment.
• Perform additional assigned functions.
