About The Position

Abbott is a global healthcare leader that helps people live more fully at all stages of life. The Opportunity This position works out of our Waukegan, IL location in the GES, Global Engineering Services division. Performs the functions of moving office furniture, materials and equipment within and between Abbott Lake County, and Cook County locations, in addition to setting up main conference centers and rooms.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Must be able to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and use computers for tracking and information
  • Requires frequent strenuous manual labor when stopping at various locations for pickups and deliveries
  • Must be in good physical condition and be capable of loading and unloading within time constraints
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License issued by the State of Illinois.
  • Required for operating non-commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) between 16,001 and 26,000 lbs
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical (if applicable)
  • Class C non-CDL license

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of Mover experience preferred
  • Excellent driving skills and outstanding customer skills

Responsibilities

  • Operating Abbott or leased motor vehicles in a safe manner (van, small truck, truck no CDL required).
  • Complete pickups, and deliveries at various Abbott locations and venues.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships with all Abbott employees.
  • The mover must ensure safe driving techniques at all times and must meet all departmental procedures and Illinois/Wisconsin state motor vehicle operating license requirements.
  • Must be able to load and unload materials, pallets, speedpacks, electronics, barrels, etc., onto and off the truck as needed.
  • Must know different types of moving equipment, and hand tools, 2 & 4 wheel dollies, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
  • Must help coordinate efforts of other trades and groups involved to maximize the availability of manpower and equipment and to most effectively utilize available resources.
  • Rearranges main conference center room dividers to provide for the desired meeting room configurations.
  • Set up conference rooms and arranges tables and chairs, etc, to meet client needs.
  • Must be able to read and interpret diagrams.
  • Must be focused, flexible and able to pivot at a moment’s notice.
  • Must be able to assist with sending out scheduling information to the team for the following day.
