About The Position

This role is for a hands-on Mountain Operations Director at a private Ski Club in Naples, NY. The ideal candidate will manage and execute all aspects of mountain operations including lifts, snowmaking, grooming, and general mountain and grounds maintenance. It's a demanding role requiring a versatile individual who is comfortable working outdoors in unpredictable weather, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems, operating equipment, and leading a small team. The position offers a tight-knit community environment, real impact, year-round stability, and a Finger Lakes lifestyle. It's described as a "boots-on-the-ground" role, part strategist, part operator, and part firefighter, requiring dedication during peak season with early mornings, long days, and physical work.

Requirements

Experience in ski area operations (lifts, grooming, snowmaking—some or all)
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical systems without blinking
Comfortable running equipment, fixing things, and figuring it out when it breaks
Leads by example, not from behind a desk
Ability to interact with members and staff with professionalism (this is a private club)
Built for Western NY winters (and everything that comes with them)

Responsibilities

Own lift operations and maintenance; safety is non-negotiable, uptime is the goal
Chase weather windows, build base, and make the call when it matters for snowmaking
Lead grooming operations, and hop in the cab when needed
Manage trails, drainage, lighting, repairs, and all aspects of the mountain and grounds
Lead a small, tight crew that takes pride in doing things right
