About The Position
This role involves operating a moulder machine, handling cutter heads safely, and performing various setup and maintenance tasks. The operator will be responsible for ensuring product quality, interpreting production paperwork, and recognizing wood species characteristics. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Requirements
- A strong commitment to safety and proper use of required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes).
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort with machine setup and adjustment.
- Keen attention to detail and quality, with the ability to spot imperfections and make corrections.
- Solid understanding of wood materials and machining principles.
- Dependability, teamwork, and pride in producing top-quality components.
Responsibilities
- Operate the moulder and handle cutter heads safely and with care
- Set up the machine for various products including frame parts, dovetail, stock, and mouldings
- Perform start up, shut down, and routine maintenance including greasing and inspections
- Identify dull blades and sharpen or change them as required
- Read and interpret production paperwork and drawings
- Recognize wood species and their characteristics to ensure proper machining
- Feed, catch, inspect, and stack material safely while maintaining workflow
- Inspect product quality using templates and ensure all materials meet standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
