About The Position

This position is located at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Polk, LA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Duties include operating trucks with gross vehicle weights up to 22,000 lbs. to transport materials inside/outside of the installation. Responsibilities also involve loading and arranging cargo onto vehicles, accounting for proper vehicle clearances, turning radius, and braking distances. The role requires directing three or more lower-graded warehouse workers in daily tasks assigned by the warehouse supervisor and reviewing their work to ensure tasks are completed correctly. Additionally, the position involves inventorying materials within the department to efficiently receive and issue throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required.
  • Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • A pre-employment and annual physical examinations are required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 70 pounds may be required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing.
  • Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside Class D driver's license within 30 days of employment.

  • Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials Handler) without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to perform the most difficult and complex motor vehicle operator and material handler activities in a warehouse setting.
  • Skilled in assigning tasks to be performed to other workers based on instructions received from a supervisor.
  • Able to safely operate vehicles and equipment weighing up to 22,000 pounds.
  • Ability to safely load and arrange cargo onto vehicles and in the warehouse.
  • Skilled at receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying materials in a warehouse.
  • Consulted by other workers because of expertise.
