The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining Nova Scotia’s infrastructure, including roads, highways, and bridges. The Vehicle Transportation Inspection Division focuses on the inspection and compliance of vehicles using the province's highways, aiming to inspire public confidence through education and enforcement of relevant Acts and Regulations. The Vehicle Transportation Inspector (Mobile) reports to the Manager, Vehicle Transportation Inspection, and is tasked with protecting the province's highway infrastructure and ensuring public safety by enforcing legislation pertinent to commercial traffic. This role involves mobile patrols across Nova Scotia, operating on all classes of highways 24/7. The inspector also provides technical advice to department staff and the public, and contributes to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and occupational health and safety principles for commercial vehicle inspection, enforcement, and compliance programs.
