Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Requires previous automotive repair experience.
Requires experience using hand tools, power tools and electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

Repair, re-build or overhaul major assemblies of automobiles, busses, trucks, tractors, refueling vehicles, military vehicles, material handling equipment and special purpose equipment.
Inspect vehicles and equipment to determine the repairs required for the vehicle or equipment to meet the established serviceability standards.
Perform incoming inspections, outgoing inspections, Limited Technical Inspections, accident and abuse estimates in accordance with established standards. Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs required.
Replace worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
Grind and adjust valves. Rebuild carburetors. Overhaul transmissions.
Repair fuel injection, lighting and ignition systems.
Maintain tools, equipment, and clean work areas. Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD prevention and safety at all times.
Inspect all vehicles and equipment entering shop for maintenance; debrief operators and record discrepancies that may be found in accordance with established standards.
Forward all identified discrepancies to FM&A for assignment to the appropriate repair function.
Perform minor maintenance in accordance with established standards.
