Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Requires previous automotive repair experience.
  • Requires experience using hand tools, power tools and electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, re-build or overhaul major assemblies of automobiles, busses, trucks, tractors, refueling vehicles, military vehicles, material handling equipment and special purpose equipment.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to determine the repairs required for the vehicle or equipment to meet the established serviceability standards.
  • Perform incoming inspections, outgoing inspections, Limited Technical Inspections, accident and abuse estimates in accordance with established standards. Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs required.
  • Replace worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
  • Grind and adjust valves. Rebuild carburetors. Overhaul transmissions.
  • Repair fuel injection, lighting and ignition systems.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and clean work areas. Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD prevention and safety at all times.
  • Inspect all vehicles and equipment entering shop for maintenance; debrief operators and record discrepancies that may be found in accordance with established standards.
  • Forward all identified discrepancies to FM&A for assignment to the appropriate repair function.
  • Perform minor maintenance in accordance with established standards.
