About The Position

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to work in Fort Hood, TX. The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. This role generally requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of motor vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Knowledgeable in U.S. Army maintenance procedures and AR 750-1.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
  • Ability to receive a favorable TIER 1 investigation.
  • Able to bring and use own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience preferred.
  • US Army MOS 91/63 series qualification is desired.
  • Experience on US Army tactical vehicles is desired.
  • Valid Driver’s license preferred.
  • ASE Certified preferred.
  • HVAC EPA Tech Cert 608/609 a plus.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified ASE Certification desired.
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred.
  • Commercial Driver's license with Passenger Endorsement.
