About The Position

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic for their ISS2 contract supporting their Air Force customer. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic works with a wide variety of heavy, medium, and equipment and vehicles to support the Company's operations at Eareckson Air Force Base. This is a rotational position where the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Earackson Air Station and 1 month off, unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided as a dormitory facility. All meals are served through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a formal motor vehicle mechanic apprenticeship.
A combination of equivalent training and experience may be substituted for formal apprenticeship.
Five (5) years’ experience with heavy construction and snow removal equipment.
Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquires.
U.S. citizen.
Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.

Responsibilities

Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors.
Performs generalized maintenance on equipment as required.
Diagnoses the source of trouble and determines the extent of repairs required.
Repairs, rebuilds, and maintains various types of motor vehicles and related equipment including but not limited to engines, drivelines, brakes, pumping assemblies, and hydraulic systems.
Replaces worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinds and adjusts valves; rebuilds carburetors; overhauls transmissions.
Repairs fuel injection systems, lighting systems, ignition systems, and other vehicle systems.
Operates vehicles, trucks and equipment to facilitate maintenance or repair actions.
Serves as Fuel/Re-Supply Barge augmentee.
Performs snow removal duties as needed.
Performs duties for the Emergency Response Team as required.
Performs nominal maintenance on shop equipment and maintains cleanliness of shop areas as required.
Performs related work as assigned.
