About The Position

The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) performs functions of the state relative to the examination and licensing of operators of motor vehicles, the suspension and revocation of such licenses, issuance of vehicle title and registration certificates, license plates for all motor vehicles operated upon the highways of the state, recordation of liens against vehicles, and the collection of sales/use tax and other appropriate fees, all in accordance with applicable laws. We’re looking for a Motor Vehicle Analyst to join our Jennings OMV Location. The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) will provide the highest quality service and protection to internal and external customers in an environment that views change as opportunity. Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • May be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and processes convictions received by mail and electronically from the Louisiana Supreme Court, along with child support suspensions, student disciplinary suspensions, revenue suspensions, compulsory insurance violation notices, and insurance cancellation error reports.
  • Evaluates compliance documents, reinstatement fees, surrendered driver's licenses, license plates, and registrations related to suspensions and revocations.
  • Processes SR-22 certificates of insurance and SR-26 insurance cancellation notices.
  • Administers bankruptcy cases by updating customer driving records in accordance with legal directives, ensuring compliance with court-ordered timeframes, and notifying customers of their status and applicable reinstatement requirements.
  • Evaluates complex cases involving multiple suspensions, revocations, and compliance requirements.
  • Determines reinstatement eligibility and fees while preparing correspondence outlining the actions necessary to restore driving and registration privileges.
  • Authorizes the release of accident security deposits and the cancellation of property bonds in accordance with court regulations.
  • Provides accurate information to customers, attorneys, courts, law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, elected officials, and other state agencies regarding suspensions, revocations, reinstatement requirements, applicable laws, and fees.
  • Calculates, collects, balances, and accounts for reinstatement and regulatory fees while maintaining accountability for all funds received.
  • Processes requests for Official Driving Records, collects required fees, corresponds with customers regarding incomplete requests, and maintains user access to the Louisiana Insurance Verification System (LAIVS).
  • Interprets policies, procedures, statutes, and legislative changes affecting operations.
  • Coordinates workflow, distributes assignments, compiles statistical reports, prepares correspondence and certified mail, and processes refund requests through the Automated Refund System, including refunds to customers and insurance companies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
