About The Position

Vanguard Claims Administration is seeking an enthusiastic Motor Truck Cargo (MTC) Claims Examiner. This role is responsible for analyzing and processing commercial cargo claims by reviewing coverage, completing investigations, determining liability, and evaluating the scope of damages. The position also involves managing the litigation process, coordinating vendor management, reporting large claims, developing action plans for timely resolution, and identifying subrogation opportunities and salvage. A key aspect of this role is adhering to SOC 2 Compliance responsibilities, ensuring the security, confidentiality, and integrity of all claimant, policyholder, client, and company information.

Requirements

Three (3) years of claims management experience, either in-house or in the field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
In-depth knowledge of Commercial Transportation coverages, principles, and laws.
Knowledge of appropriate application for deductibles, sub-limits, SIR’s.
Knowledge of Bills of Lading, Shipping Documentation.
Strong oral and written communication, including presentation skills.
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
Claims Management System experience (i.e. FileTrac).
Strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Good negotiation skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to meet or exceed Service Expectations.
Secure and maintain the State adjusting licenses as required for the position.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred.

Responsibilities

Processes Commercial Cargo Transportation claims and ensures claim files are properly documented and coded correctly.
Manages the litigation process on litigated claims.
Coordinates vendor management, including the use of independent adjusters to assist the investigation of claims.
Reports large claims to carrier(s).
Develops and maintains action plans to ensure state required contact deadlines are met and to move the file towards prompt and appropriate resolution.
Identifies subrogation opportunities and refers them to relevant vendors; secures and disposes of salvage.
Communicates claim action/processing with insured, client, and agent or broker when appropriate.
Handles all claimant, policyholder, client, and company information in accordance with SOC 2 security, confidentiality, and data integrity standards.
Ensures sensitive data is stored, transmitted, and processed securely, following company policies and procedures.
Maintains accuracy and completeness of information in all systems, reports, and documentation.
Promptly reports any actual or suspected security incidents, policy violations, or data handling concerns to management.
Participates in training and awareness initiatives to stay current on SOC 2 requirements and best practices.
Supports audit readiness by providing documentation, evidence, or explanations of compliance activities when requested.
Performs additional responsibilities as needed to support business operations and compliance objectives.
