About The Position

Albany County Road and Bridge is seeking an Experienced Motor Grader Operator. This role involves maintaining and constructing gravel roads, as well as plowing snow using a plow and wing. Operators must be able to safely operate several types of motorized equipment and perform a variety of manual labor tasks. The position requires considerable experience in the operation of motor graders and proficiency in the safe operation of dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, and dozers. A valid Class A CDL is mandatory. The job also requires a pre-employment drug test, background check, and driver's license check, along with random drug testing.

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in the operation of motor graders.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, and dozers.
  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate a computer well enough to keep records.
  • Ability to interpret shop drawings and construction plans.
  • Ability to operate transit and level to take grade readings.
  • Pre-employment drug test.
  • Pre-employment background check.
  • Driver's license check.
  • Random drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Safe and efficient operation of several types of motorized equipment and machinery.
  • Servicing and making minor mechanical repairs to equipment.
  • Following assignments outlined by the supervisor.
  • Repairing and maintaining roads.
  • Lifting 80 pounds and working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Grading and maintaining gravel and dirt surfaced roads.
  • Repairing bridges, auto gates, and replacing culverts.
  • Operating a truck in connection with the transportation of equipment, sand, stone, gravel, and supplies.
  • Operating front end loader, forklift, backhoe and comparable equipment.
  • Performing tasks in the shop when not working as a Motor Equipment Operator.
  • Installing and maintaining traffic signs.
  • Operating a computer to maintain time, service, and material records.
  • Interpreting shop drawings and construction plans.
  • Operating radio equipment.
  • Operating transit and level to take grade readings.
  • Building and repairing snow fences.
  • Operating high-pressure water system.
  • Installing, repairing, and cleaning cattle guards.
