About The Position

The Motor Disassembly Technician is responsible for safely disassembling, inspecting, and documenting the condition of electric motors used in automotive applications. This role supports tear down for electric vehicle (EV) traction motors, starter‑generators, and other automotive electric drive components. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS) serves customers in many industries including automotive, aerospace, indoor air quality, semiconductors and hydrogen economy, and provides full loop services with its precious metals trading and recycling offering. Requirements

  • Experience working with electric motors, automotive components, or mechanical/electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles (windings, insulation, continuity, grounding).
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, schematics, and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Physical ability to lift components and work in a hands‑on shop environment.

  • Experience with automotive technology, industrial maintenance, or electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble automotive electric motors (traction motors, starter motors, alternators, hybrid drive motors) following established procedures and safety standards.
  • Identify, label, and organize components such as stators, rotors, bearings, windings, housings, and electronic assemblies.
  • Follow electrical safety protocols
  • Assist engineers or maintenance personnel by providing accurate teardown data
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper storage of reusable and scrap components.
  • Operate shop equipment such as presses, pullers, torque tools, and cleaning systems.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies or safety risks.
