This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency. The Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector will document and report economic violations with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), investigate assigned complaints regarding violations of PUCO rules and regulations, and make on-site recommendations to correct violations. The role involves maintaining effective public relations with drivers, company representatives, law enforcement officers, and others to ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations. Additionally, the inspector will assist other agencies, prepare and deliver presentations on highway safety, and testify in court regarding violations. This position is safety sensitive and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
