About The Position

LiveKit is seeking a Founding Motion Designer to define and shape the company's visual motion language. This role is crucial for bringing the brand, product story, and launches to life through high-craft animation. The Motion Designer will work across various platforms including product marketing, launch films, campaign systems, social media, events, web marketing, and brand moments, aiming to make the intersection of voice, video, real-time infrastructure, and AI agents tangible through motion. The position involves translating abstract technical concepts into clear, memorable, and emotionally resonant motion systems, collaborating closely with brand, web, product design, marketing, and engineering teams to elevate the company's overall quality bar. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to create excellent work and help build a motion practice from the ground up.

Requirements

A standout motion portfolio across brand and marketing work, from fast-turn social edits to polished launch moments.
Excellence with After Effects and a modern motion toolkit, with a strong foundation in design principles (type, composition, pacing, hierarchy, taste).
Ability to take a loose brief, find the shape of the idea, and drive the work from concept to final export.
Deep care for details like timing, easing, transitions, and rhythm, with a strong sense of when something feels right.
Ability to move quickly and ship work without sacrificing craft.
Curiosity about how AI can speed up, expand, or sharpen the creative process.
Comfort bringing motion to the web, whether through Lottie, Rive, CSS/SVG, prototyping tools, or close collaboration with design engineers.
Enjoyment of working close to the product and making technical ideas feel simple, sharp, and exciting.

Responsibilities

Help define LiveKit’s motion language from the ground up: the principles, timing, behaviors, and feel that make our brand recognizably ours.
Lead motion for major launches and campaigns, from announcement videos and hero moments to social cuts and supporting assets.
Bring LiveKit’s website and key marketing surfaces to life with animation that is thoughtful, performant, and in service of the story.
Build reusable motion systems, templates, components, and workflows so high-quality motion can ship faster across the team.
Partner closely with brand, marketing, product, and design engineering to turn complex technical ideas into motion that feels clear, sharp, and worth watching.
