Mosquito Control Technician - Part Time

About The Position

This is a part-time position, typically from April until October or November. The role involves working late hours, from 6:30 pm until the route is finished, possibly until midnight. The work schedule varies from 5 to 20 hours per week, depending on the weather. Additional work hours involving other mosquito control activities may be added as needed. The position performs intermediate semiskilled work in eradicating mosquitos and related tasks as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Vector Control Supervisor.

Requirements

• General knowledge of the methods, procedures, hazards, tools and equipment used in or associated with dispensing pesticides for controlling carriers of vector borne diseases.
• General knowledge in the application of pesticides.
• Ability to operate all necessary equipment and machinery.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and others.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares truck for nightly pesticide spray.
• Operates fogging equipment on designated routes; applies approved pesticides and larvicides in an effort to minimize infestation.
• Performs equipment maintenance.
