About The Position

The Mortgage Specialist is responsible for understanding and complying with regulatory requirements for financial transactions, specifically the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Customer Identification Program (CIP) as they relate to job functions. The role requires superior customer service, teamwork, and adherence to bank values regarding ethics, integrity, and confidentiality. This position involves performing mortgage lending origination duties, business development, and miscellaneous tasks to support the bank's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mortgage lending origination duties, including providing superior service to customers and branch personnel, ensuring courteous and efficient phone communications, and working with branch personnel to analyze and produce complete mortgage loan packages.
  • Obtains and analyzes applicant's financial data with branch personnel.
  • Prepares necessary loan documents, including ordering and verifying credit reports, verification of employment, verification of lender's lending limits, and ensuring the loan type is correct with conforming terms and rates per bank policy.
  • Verifies that all HMDA data has been collected, fees are correct with proper disclosures provided to the customer within the proper time frames, and that the loan conforms to bank policy and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Verifies that services, fees, and documents correlate to the terms and conditions of the sales contract.
  • Utilizes the bank's documentation provider (PPDocs) and ensures required and correct information is provided for document preparation.
  • Reviews and verifies final documents are correct prior to sending to the lender for closing.
  • Performs business development duties, including working with branch personnel to develop relationships with realtors, builders, contractors, and title companies, and promoting overall business development of the Bank.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties, including attending all assigned meetings, preparing correspondence when necessary, staying informed of all Bank products and services, participating in civic and professional activities to further the image and professionalism of the Bank, and assisting with performance of loan reviews and audits.
