About The Position

The Junior Mortgage Solutions Specialist supports members experiencing financial hardship by assisting with mortgage and commercial real estate collections, loss mitigation, loan modifications, and foreclosure-related activities. This role works with members to identify effective solutions that help improve financial outcomes while minimizing risk and potential losses to the credit union. The position ensures compliance with regulatory and investor requirements, maintains accurate documentation, and delivers exceptional member service throughout the resolution process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent, required.
  • 2+ years combined financial institution experience in customer service, lending, or collections required, to include: 1+ years' Mortgage / Real Estate Servicing or collections experience, required.
  • Ability to be professional, diplomatic, and courteous while communicating critical information, with an emphasis on the ability to communicate with others in a calm and diplomatic manner.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of all transactions is of critical importance.
  • Problem-solving ability and consistent, logical, and effective decision-making.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and web based transactional systems to complete day to day member requests and collection software systems.

  • Knowledge of VA, FNMA, FHA, FHLB, GNMA.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to quickly learn and retain new information relevant to, collection law, bankruptcy law, and credit reporting including, but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act Fact Act FCRA Gramm Leach, Bliley FDCPA CFPB State and Federal Collection Law.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members experiencing financial hardship by identifying and supporting mortgage assistance and loss mitigation solutions.
  • Manage delinquent residential and commercial real estate loan accounts, including collections, loan modifications, and default servicing activities.
  • Respond to member requests related to loan modifications, payoff inquiries, and mortgage assistance programs in accordance with CFPB requirements, investor guidelines, and credit union policies.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor mortgage insurance claims, ensuring accurate reporting and timely filing.
  • Support foreclosure activities by coordinating with attorneys, conducting member outreach, and ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete required administrative tasks related to collections, loss mitigation, and foreclosure processes.
  • Utilize servicing systems and technology tools to support efficient account management and member service.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policies and procedures.
