About The Position

This role provides administrative and operational support for a mortgage processing team. The primary responsibilities include managing a small loan pipeline, reviewing loan files for completeness and accuracy, assisting with file setup to improve submission quality, and supporting overall file readiness for processing and underwriting. The position also involves monitoring team inboxes, answering basic operational and loan-related questions, assisting with loan locking and DPA processing, and generating various reports. Additionally, the role supports daily operational tasks such as running DU, troubleshooting system issues, and providing workflow guidance.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service
  • Effective communication skills including written and verbal
  • Basic knowledge of lender’s and investor’s underwriting and program guidelines
  • Ability to prepare state and federally required disclosures
  • Ability to manage processing pipeline
  • Knowledge of basic underwriting guidelines to calculate income, assess adequate asset availability, review appraisal report, read title commitment/preliminary title reports
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry
  • Ability to view and analyze information on a computer screen for extended periods
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds (files, documents, office materials)
  • Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small pipeline of up to 5 loans per month
  • Review new loan files prior to initial disclosures to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Assist with file setup to prevent conditions (“cures”) and improve submission quality
  • Support overall file quality and readiness for processing and underwriting
  • Monitor and respond to team inbox inquiries and help requests in a timely manner
  • Answer basic operational and loan-related questions from team members
  • Assist with loan locking and DPA (Down Payment Assistance) loan processing as needed
  • Pull and distribute scheduled reports, including: Broker reports (month-end), Branch projection reports (first and mid-month), DPA reports (first and mid-month), Processor projection reports
  • Provide support for daily operational questions, including: Running DU (Desktop Underwriter), Troubleshooting file or system issues, General workflow guidance
