About The Position

We're looking for a Mortgage Processor to join our team and help guide residential mortgage loans from application through final approval and closing. You'll work closely with Loan Officers, Underwriters, Closing staff, borrowers, Realtors, and other partners to make sure loan files are complete, accurate, compliant, and moving forward on schedule. Requirements

  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma required.
  • At least one year of experience working in a financial institution preferred, with mortgage lending or mortgage processing experience strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent directly related mortgage experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage lending principles, terminology, documentation, and processes is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and know when to escalate an issue.
  • Comfortable working with computers and learning mortgage loan origination systems such as Encompass.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive member and financial information.
  • A team-oriented attitude and a commitment to providing an exceptional member experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned residential mortgage applications from application through underwriting, final approval, and closing.
  • Collect, order, review, and verify required borrower and third-party documentation, including credit information, appraisals, title work, income and asset verification, and other required documents.
  • Follow up with borrowers, third parties, and internal team members to obtain outstanding information and documentation within established timelines.
  • Review loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Credit Union, investor, agency, and loan program requirements before submitting to Underwriting.
  • Calculate and review qualifying ratios, verify AUS findings, identify potential issues, and ensure loan information is accurately reflected in Encompass.
  • Obtain and organize documentation needed to satisfy Prior to Final Approval and Prior to Closing conditions and coordinate with Underwriting as needed.
  • Monitor assigned loans, anticipate upcoming milestones, track deadlines, and communicate proactively about potential delays or outstanding items.
  • Provide timely loan status and documentation updates to Loan Officers, borrowers, Realtors, Underwriters, Closing staff, and other parties as appropriate.
  • Identify documentation, qualification, or processing issues and help coordinate solutions to keep loans moving toward a successful and timely closing.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the mortgage loan programs and products offered by Town & Country Credit Union, as well as applicable investor and agency requirements.
  • Assist with mortgage processing procedures and training materials and may be cross-trained in Mortgage Loan Closing and/or Post-Closing to provide backup coverage when needed.
