The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) originates first mortgage and/or second lien equity loans, and promotes the financial institution and its lending services to the real estate community. This role involves following established workflows, meeting annual loan projections, documenting calls, and maintaining knowledge of the bank's products and investor loan programs. The MLO is responsible for increasing customer relationships, improving customer experiences, and participating in new business generation activities. They also assist in developing branch goals and budgets, cross-selling bank products, and ensuring customers are directed to appropriate financial solutions. A key objective is to achieve a high deposit conversation rate, ensuring at least one checking or savings product is open for every loan relationship. The role also supports collecting delinquent loans and attending required training and meetings. In terms of compliance, the MLO completes loan applications accurately and timely to meet regulatory disclosure requirements, qualifies applicants based on bank policies, and ensures loan files contain verified data. They must also comply with all Federal Regulations and bank policies, including BSA/AML/OFAC and CIP Program. For Community Reinvestment, the MLO represents Security Federal at community functions to build relationships with realtors, builders, and other entities for a referral network, actively participates in CRA programs, and arranges educational opportunities for the community.
