About The Position

As a Mortgage Closer in our Melbourne Headquarters, You’ll act as a representative of SCCU and provide exceptional quality service for members; to prepare/transmit all approved loans originated through the Express Mortgages function and ensure a timely closing in order to exceed member expectations; to support all sales efforts of the Express Mortgages staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the loan for closing and ensures all closing documents are correct and accurate and are in compliance with government and credit union regulations.
  • Ensures that loan approval stipulations are met prior to loan closing, and that third party requests are transmitted and received in order to meet established time standards.
  • Resolves member problems, obtains information, researches records, follows up on details, assesses member needs timely and efficiently and reports the results to the inquiring party to develop and sustain profitable member relationship.
  • Prepare and audit closing documents in accordance with loan approval, compliance standards and investor guidelines.
  • Review asset documentation to ensure the borrower has sufficient funds to close the transaction.
  • Review final Closing Disclosures (CDs) and ensure all fees, terms and data are accurate.
  • Ensure all pre-closing conditions and documentation requirements are met prior to closing.
  • Coordinate and communicate closing details with title companies, attorneys, loan officers, processors and applicants.
  • Handle funding tasks, including reviewing signed closing packages, verifying accuracy, and disbursing funds when applicable.
  • Answer incoming calls, assist applicants with questions regarding their Closing Disclosure, loan documents, escrow, etc., or re-direct the caller to appropriate staff in other areas of department or the Credit Union.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures and standards that pertain to this position.
  • Ensure compliance with TRID, RESPA, TILA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Capable of handling a pipeline of 20-40 loan files, while meeting contract closing dates.
  • Adheres to established productivity and loan quality standards to meet quality service standards.
  • Supports the sales efforts of all Express Mortgages team members by providing the member with appropriate product and service materials in order to enhance the overall SCCU cooperative/member relationship.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
