About The Position
NBC Bay Area is seeking an experienced and energetic Morning Show Producer who understands viewer needs upon waking and can deliver content with urgency, creativity, and personality. The role involves producing a show that is fresh, relevant, engaging, and connected to the Bay Area community, providing the latest news, breaking developments, weather, and traffic. The ideal candidate is passionate about morning news, ready to improve the show daily, and capable of handling breaking news situations with smart editorial decisions and clear communication. This position offers an opportunity for growth, experimentation, and innovation in morning newscast production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 2 years of regular newscast producing experience in a television newsroom.
- Proven experience building rundowns and producing live newscasts.
- Demonstrated experience handling breaking news and making editorial decisions under pressure.
- Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong editorial judgment and commitment to accuracy.
- Understanding of the unique needs and habits of a morning audience.
- Ability to recognize and aggressively pursue big stories.
- Calm, decisive, and accurate performance during breaking news.
- Understanding of how to effectively integrate weather and traffic.
- Curiosity and/or knowledge about the Bay Area and a desire to serve the local community.
- Collaborative team player with good communication skills.
- Desire to grow as a producer and take on more responsibility.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities
- Produce a fast-paced, informative, and engaging morning newscast.
- Build smart, compelling rundowns prioritizing news, breaking developments, weather, traffic, and community-relevant stories.
- Aggressively respond to breaking news by restructuring the newscast and adjusting coverage.
- Write clear, conversational, and accurate copy under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with anchors, reporters, assignment editors, weather, traffic, digital teams, and production crews.
- Continuously seek ways to make the newscast more useful, interesting, and distinctive.
- Find creative ways to showcase important stories beyond traditional formats.
- Incorporate digital, streaming, and social content into the morning news workflow.
- Make strong, confident editorial decisions while maintaining accuracy and fairness standards.
- Bring energy, ideas, and enthusiasm to the newsroom.
