About The Position

Lifespan Montessori is an established, state licensed center committed to investing in its staff and developing a caring, friendly community of educators and learners. Its mission is to grow independent, confident, and compassionate individuals. The center aims to create a stimulating and enriching environment for students and teachers alike. The Montessori Director will guide the Athens program with clarity, compassion, and purpose, making a meaningful impact on children, families, and educators.

Requirements

  • 21+ years old and meet Georgia Director qualifications
  • Montessori Certification: A teaching credential from an accredited institution such as AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) or AMS (American Montessori Society) required.
  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Educational Leadership, or a related field is standard.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of classroom experience as a Montessori guide and 1–3 years of administrative experience (e.g., as an assistant director or head teacher).
  • Understanding: Strong comprehension of Montessori philosophy and classroom practice.
  • State Licensing: The director must meet all state-specific DHS/OCDEL regulations for childcare center directors.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated skills in staff management, budget oversight, communication with parents, and facility management.
  • Leadership approach: A calm, reflective, and collaborative approach to leadership.
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday
  • Reliable transportation to 570 Research Dr., Athens, GA 30605

Nice To Haves

  • Montessori Administrator Credential: Specific certification in Montessori Leadership or Administration (e.g., from Seton Montessori Institute or AMS) preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations and long-term planning to ensure a thriving Montessori environment
  • Uphold and model Montessori philosophy with fidelity across classrooms
  • Mentor and coach guides and assistants with positivity, accountability, and purpose
  • Oversee Montessori curriculum integrity alongside state licensing requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with all state childcare licensing regulations
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with families through clear and consistent communication
  • Manage staff performance, scheduling, and professional development
  • Oversee budget, enrollment, and facility operations
  • Ensure a safe, peaceful, and inclusive learning environment grounded in respect
  • Foster a joyful, child-centered culture where independence and curiosity flourish
