About The Position

Under direct supervision, incumbents provide for the safety of students on playgrounds, buses, street crossings, lunchrooms, hallways, and other school property by enforcing school rules and policies pertaining to student behavior in these areas. Incumbents may serve in one or more of these areas and may also be exposed to extreme temperatures when working outside.

Requirements

  • Must receive CPR certification within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to work with children.
  • Ability to identify and respond to hazardous situations.
  • Ability to apply school disciplinary procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for children.
  • Knowledge of school rules, policies, and disciplinary steps.
  • Knowledge of standard safety procedures.
  • Interpersonal communication skills for interacting with supervisors, staff, and students.
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, feeling, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.).
  • One year of remedial program experience.
  • One year of curriculum, instruction, and assessment program experience.
