About The Position

The Monitor Technician provides continuous observation and interpretation of cardiac rhythms in the Emergency Department. The role documents and communicates pertinent arrhythmias and changes in heart rate, rhythm, noninvasive blood pressure, and oxygen saturation to the responsible nurse. The technician observes cardiac monitoring, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure; maintains equipment and supplies; and reports patient abnormalities or significant changes from baseline to the appropriate supervisor or other healthcare team members. The position also assists providers with cardiac monitoring, therapeutic measures, and related procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Less than one year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; applicants who are not certified must obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• RN or LPN license, or prior monitor technician experience, may substitute for the degree requirement.

Responsibilities

• Identify arrhythmias, abnormalities, and significant changes from a patient's baseline.
• Report patient conditions to the appropriate supervisor or other healthcare team members.
• Assist providers with cardiac monitoring, therapeutic measures, and procedures related to cardiac monitoring.
