About The Position

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is a 198-bed non-profit facility dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate healthcare. We are seeking a Monitor Tech to be responsible for the continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes. This role is crucial for patient safety and timely intervention, requiring sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure. The Monitor Tech will also maintain continuity of care by processing patient records accurately and promptly, using current information systems, and ensuring all EKG and applicable waveform documentation is obtained at required times.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic EKG class or successful completion of the basic rhythm test
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR

Nice To Haves

  • Medical terminology class or related training
  • One (1) year Monitor Tech experience in an acute care setting
  • Previous experience with a patient care module or personal computer

Responsibilities

  • Continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.
  • Meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, and measure intervals.
  • Promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of observations and findings.
  • Maintain continuity of care by processing patient records accurately and promptly from admission to discharge.
  • Use current information systems.
  • Constantly observe all monitors and promptly notify Charge Nurse or RN responsible for patient rhythm and/or invasive waveform changes.
  • Function efficiently during emergency situations.
  • Run and troubleshoot monitor equipment, reporting any malfunction to Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor or Director.
  • Obtain documentation strips at required times of all EKG and applicable waveforms.
