About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson is hiring Monitor Technicians in Charlottesville, VA! The Monitor Technician observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment. This position will be located in our Intermediate Care Unit and also our Intensive Care unit as needed. The Telemetry/Stroke Unit at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post-coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. This unit also cares for TIA, acute stroke, and post procedural neuro cases that stepdown from ICU. This 30-bed unit is well supported with additional patient care technicians, educators, and a strong leadership team.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
  • Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
  • To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience as a Monitor Tech preferred.
  • Experience in acute care setting preferred.
  • EKG experience preferred.
