About The Position

Sovah Danville is seeking a Monitor Technician to provide services to ensure a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting. As a member of the Health Support Center (HSC) team, you’ll support those in our facilities who are interfacing with and providing care to our patients and community members, positively impacting our mission of making communities healthier. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • AHA BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operates the patient-monitoring system.
  • Monitors dining/day rooms, and hallways on Behavioral Health when occupied by patients to assure patient safety in the environment.
  • Monitors patients for suspicious behavior indicating the possibility of self-harm.
  • Reports incidents, utilizes nursing staff for concerns, discusses recent issues, and any pertinent patient details with the covering/on-coming behavioral health monitor technician.
  • Recognizes patient behaviors in the dining/dayroom and hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation.
  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
  • Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient's physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to the supervisor.
