About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Monitor Technician performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role is for the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) and is an employee, PRN position within the CHS - Telemetry (ART) cost center. The position is hourly and scheduled for 12 hours per week, typically a 12-hour day shift, including some weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Successful completion of EKG training/competency within 3 attempts in 3 months in position is required to remain in the position.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider within first two weeks of employment required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year in a .6 FTE or greater Monitor Technician I position at MUSC or 1 year of Monitor Technician/Telemetry work experience in a health care facility and successful completion of the EKG training/competency during the orientation period in order to remain in the Monitor Technician II position.
