About The Position

The Monitor Tech observes, records, and responds to patients’ heart rhythms. The role answers patient call lights through an intercom system and pages messages to the caregiver, along with performing other assigned duties. The Monitor Tech may also function as a Nursing Assistant under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse. In that capacity, the employee provides age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethically sensitive manner and assists patients with activities of daily living. The position reports to the Nurse Manager of the assigned unit and to the RNs on duty during each assigned shift.

Requirements

Completion of a certified nursing assistant program, or at least 2 years of experience as a monitor technician in lieu of that program.
Successfully complete a Cardiac Rhythm certification program and orientation to the monitor room; experienced Monitor Techs may complete a paper rhythm test for competency.
Ability to read and write and communicate verbally and in writing.
State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS), or an AHA-approved equivalent, within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
