About The Position

The Monitor Tech measures and monitors EKG waveforms and communicates relevant information to nursing staff and clinicians efficiently in accordance with hospital policy. The role contributes to patient safety and safe patient outcomes in the Med Surg Orthopedic Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Requirements

• Successfully complete an EKG/arrhythmia exam by the end of orientation.
• Have problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
• Have basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior EKG or telemetry experience.
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous cardiac monitor observation.
• Inform nurses about essential equipment information, changes in cardiac rhythm, and patient updates.
• Compile patient data and provide reports on a shift-by-shift basis.
• Maintain monitoring equipment and notify biomedical staff when equipment needs replacement or must be taken out of service for repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
