About The Position

The Monitor Tech measures and monitors EKG waveforms and communicates relevant information to nursing staff and clinicians effectively and efficiently in accordance with hospital policy. The role contributes to patient safety and safe patient outcomes. The position is in the Med Surg Orthopedic Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center and is scheduled for 24 hours per week on days/evenings.

Requirements

• Successfully complete an EKG/arrhythmia exam by the end of orientation.
• Possess problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
• Have basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior EKG or telemetry experience.
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous cardiac monitor observation.
• Inform nurses of essential information regarding equipment, changes in cardiac rhythm, and patient updates.
• Compile patient data and prepare reports on a shift-by-shift basis.
• Maintain monitoring equipment and notify biomedical staff when equipment needs replacement or must be taken out of service for repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
