About The Position

The Monitor Tech measures and monitors EKG waveforms and communicates information effectively and efficiently to nursing staff and clinicians in accordance with hospital policy. The role contributes to patient safety and safe patient outcomes. The position is with the Med Surg Orthopedic Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an EKG/arrhythmia exam by the end of orientation is required.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
• Basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior EKG or telemetry experience.
• Experience with the EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous cardiac monitor observation.
• Inform nurses of essential information regarding equipment, changes in cardiac rhythm, and patient updates.
• Compile patient data and prepare reports on a shift-by-shift basis.
• Care for monitoring equipment and notify biomedical staff when equipment needs replacement or removal from service for repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
