About The Position

The Monitor Tech measures and monitors EKG waveforms and communicates relevant information to nursing staff and clinicians efficiently and effectively in accordance with hospital policy. The role contributes to patient safety and safe patient outcomes. The position is in the Med Surg Orthopedic Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center, with 36 scheduled weekly hours and a Days/Evenings work shift.

Requirements

• Successfully complete an EKG/arrhythmia exam by the end of orientation.
• Have problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and basic math skills.
• Engage with staff and patients professionally.

Nice To Haves

• Prior EKG or telemetry experience.
• Experience with the EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe cardiac monitors.
• Inform nurses about equipment, changes in cardiac rhythm, and patient updates.
• Compile patient data and provide reports on a shift-by-shift basis.
• Care for monitoring equipment and notify biomedical services when equipment needs replacement or must be taken out of service for repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
