About The Position

The Monitor Technician I is responsible for recording electrocardiograms (EKGs) for patients of all ages, ensuring EKGs are transmitted to the MUSE EKG Computer System, and utilizing patient identifiers to place telemetry transmitter packs. This role involves communicating with the monitor technician for signal verification, delivering cardiac rhythm strips, and performing miscellaneous duties related to cardiac monitoring, such as troubleshooting telemetry transmitter packs and assisting in the retrieval of misplaced equipment. Requirements

  • Recording electrocardiograms (EKGs) of customers ranging in age from newborn to geriatric
  • Ensuring that EKGs are transmitted from cart to MUSE EKG Computer System
  • Utilizing patient identifiers, placing telemetry transmitter packs, communication with monitor technician for verification of signal
  • Delivering cardiac rhythm strips from the Cardiac monitoring station to the various nursing units and posting these strips in specified unit locations during periods of medical record downtime
  • Performing miscellaneous duties related to cardiac monitoring including but not limited to troubleshooting telemetry transmitter packs (i.e., replacing worn electrodes, changing batteries, changing wires, etc.)
  • Assisting in the search and retrieval of misplaced telemetry transmitter packs and cardiac pacemakers
  • Access to information is based on a “need to know” and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties.
  • Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose.
  • Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Health System policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.
